The Machakos County Government was honored to host the Cabinet Secretary for Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development, Hon. Alice Wahome, during her visit to inspect the progress of the 220 affordable housing units in the county.
This transformative project, which is nearing completion, is a key milestone in our ongoing efforts to provide sustainable and affordable housing for our residents. As the “bedroom” of the Capital City, Machakos County continues to play a crucial role in offering housing solutions to meet the growing demand for homes amid rapid urbanization.
Hon. Alice Wahome’s visit underscores the national government’s commitment to supporting county-level housing initiatives aimed at bridging the housing gap and improving the quality of life for Kenyans. Through collaborative efforts, Machakos County is making great strides in ensuring access to decent, affordable, and well-planned housing for its people.
Regarding the subject of territorial dispute with our neighboring county, Makueni, CS Wahome and I agreed to allow the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), which is mandated to review electoral boundaries, to address the matter as soon as it is fully constituted.
Additionally, as part of our commitment to improve land administration, the County Government has established and inspected new land registries in Mavoko and Kithimani, ensuring better service delivery and transparency in land management.
The Machakos County Government remains committed to working with the national government and private sector stakeholders to enhance urban development and create a conducive living environment for all.
